SCHADS pay is complicated by design

Penalty rates, casual loadings, broken shift allowances, sleepover rules — most workers have no idea if they're getting what the award requires.

📋

Complex award rules

The SCHADS Award has dozens of clauses covering penalties, allowances, and special shift types. No single employer explains all of them.

🕐

Penalty rates often missed

Saturday, Sunday, public holiday, and afternoon shift loadings are frequently underpaid or not paid at all — especially for casuals.

💰

Super shortfalls add up

Employers must contribute 11.5% SGC on ordinary time earnings. Even small under-contributions compound significantly over time.

Common questions

What is the SCHADS Award?
The Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (MA000100) is the federal award that sets minimum pay rates, penalty rates, and entitlements for workers in home care, disability support, social work, and community services. It applies to the majority of care workers in Australia regardless of which state you work in.
Which states does Pay Audtr cover?
Pay Audtr covers SCHADS Award workers in all Australian states and territories — NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT, and NT. The SCHADS Award is a federal instrument, so the minimum rates apply nationally. Public holiday dates differ by state — you can set your home state in Settings to get the correct public holidays.
Is this legal advice?
No. Pay Audtr is a calculation tool that estimates your Award minimum based on the data you enter. It is not a legal service and results do not constitute a formal determination of your entitlements. If you find a discrepancy, we recommend contacting the Fair Work Ombudsman (fairwork.gov.au or 13 13 94) or your union (HSU, ASU, or ANMF) for authoritative advice.
How accurate are the calculations?
Pay Audtr calculates based on the SCHADS Award rates and rules as written. The result is only as accurate as the data you enter — incorrect shift times or wrong employment type will affect the output. Enterprise agreements, individual flexibility arrangements, and state instruments may also affect your entitlements in ways the tool can't account for without more information.
What happens if I find a shortfall?
Pay Audtr generates a detailed report showing exactly which areas of your pay appear to be short, and which Award clauses apply. Pro users can generate an AI-drafted formal letter to send to their employer requesting rectification. You can also contact the Fair Work Ombudsman to lodge a complaint — they have the power to investigate and order back-payment.
Is my payslip data safe?
Yes. Your data is stored in Supabase's encrypted database in Sydney, Australia. Each account is protected by required two-factor authentication. If you use AI scanning, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing and is not retained after the call. We strongly encourage cropping out your name, address, and TFN before scanning. We never sell your data or share it with your employer.
